Time Travel : Is it possible? | Explained

Is time travel possible? If yes then how? A question that lies in the mind of every logical individual of this era. Many times when people think about an extraordinary technology or device they think it will never be possible, but some of those technology exists now, this also might be the case with time travel.

What is time travel?

There are many theories by different scientists about the possibility of time travel but their practical application is a challenging task for most of the scientists.

Whenever there is a talk about time travel, there comes the name of the theoretical physicist Albert Einstein, he gave the theory of special realtivity, it states that space and time are the two sides of a coin.

When an object travels with the speed of light, time is slowed down for him with relation to the surroundings, for example if a boy, who is 15 years old, travels with the speed of light for 5 years,  when he returns to the place where he started, he will be 20 years old which is obvious, but his friends who were of the same age as him are now 65 years old, hence, in general language the boy has done time travel.

Challenges of time travel -

Light is mass less, and for a object to attain the speed of light, it has to give up all of its mass which is not possible practically as every object has certain mass without which its existence is not possible.

Also, if we somehow attain that speed still we would require a high energy source to attain the speed of light and move constantly with it.

In short, the only way to make time travel possible is by attaining the speed of light.

Time Travel with the use of gravity -

Einstein also stated in his theory of General Relativity, that any object is on a planet or place which has high gravity, time passes for that object slower in comparison to the object which has less gravity.

Black Hole  is a place of intense gravity and if some machine is created which can survive in the black hole or even on its boundary (Event Horizon), then time will be slow for that machine and passengers in it as compared to their home.

This is a bit more easy way of time travel than attaining the speed of light. 

Possibilities of time travel -

There are ways to do time travel, which are currently unavailable but never say never, these ways might be possible in the future with human brilliance. As scientists are working to overcome all the obstacle and challenges in the way of time travel so that we can achieve this milestone in the field of Science.
