Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor Explained - What's New? | 5G, AI, 7nm design and more....

We were waiting for the snapdragon processor for a long time and there were different leaks related to it but now it is officially announced that the new upgrade over Snapdragon 845 processor is Snapdragon 855. We will talk about the new improvements and new things to enjoy with Snapdragon 855 processor.

Connectivity -

The first point which comes to mind is 5G, and snapdragon 855 supports 5G and for this we a have to use Qualcomm X50 modem, and in those phones in which the combination of Snapdragon 855 and X50 modem, you can use 5G in those phones from 2019 but by default you will not get 5G support because this processor comes with its internal X24 modem which is also brilliant in its own kind, by which we can get 4G speed upto 2 GBps, which is the best and fastest available for consumers right now. Also, it is WI-FI AY and WI-FI 6 ready.

Performance -

6 or 7 years ago, we were able to do quite basic things in mobile phones but today we can handle much of the complex tasks, so we need a better performance phone for now and for future. 

The Snapdragon 855 processor is designed with 7nm manfacturing process, which will improve the performance and power efficiency. If we talk about its design, it comes with custom Kryo 485 cores, which has a tricluster design, which has 4 basics cores which are power efficient which work at 1.8 GHz, now comes three high powered cores which workes at 2.42 GHz and one more core which is named prime core, which work at 2.84 GHz. In short, it will give a fantastic performance.

According to reports, in comparison with old snapdragon processor, it is 45% more efficient and graphic rendering is improved by 20%, also here we get the latest Adreno GPU, which will give you a stable performance for a long time and app launching will be as quick as possible.

AI -

We are talking about, to which extent the phone is working in AI sector. In Snapdragon 855 processor, more than 7 trillion operation per second are able. If we compare this with older Snapdragon processors it is 3 times better and Qualcomm claims that, with comparison with competition in the market, it is 2 times faster, in the field of AI as it comes with 4th generation AI engine.

Camera - 

If we talk about camera, we get support of latest spectra 380 CV-ISP, which is quite efficient and powerful. It gives us quality of 4K video recording, which means along with portrait mode, HDR 10 video recording. This advancement in camera is big, which add a layer of quality on the photography experience. 

Gaming -

Here, we get support of Vulkan 1.1 which makes the power consumption low and the Adreno 640 GPU will give a mind blowing gaming experience. If we talk about colour, we will get more than 1 billion shades of colour. The games we play will have HDR and colour support, to enhance gaming experience.

So this was all the improvement that has been done in this processor and now we have to see which phones comes with brand new Snapdragon 855.
