5G : An Explanation

We all are waiting for 5G, its arrival, functions, specifications and advantages. Here I will talk about the basic 5G, some special features, interesting applications and how are we going to use and benefited from 5G.

Before discussing about 5G, let us know what is the "G", well, G stands for Generation. We have used 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G. In 1G, we used the normal mobile phones which were only used for calling.

In 2G, we used mobile data and SMS, which was quite an upgrade and useful to the audience in filling the gaps between people.

In 3G, we got enhanced level data experience with high speed and finally in 4G we use high speed data in many gadgets such as Television, Mobile Phones, Tablets, etc, which has turned the world into a global village.

Also, due to our engagement with these devices is increasing, the highway of the internet is now facing traffic, as the lanes are limited.

Today, if we talk about Wi-Fi, bluetooth or even a basic microwave oven, the frequency which we use is maximum of 6 GHz, but the problem with this limitation is that, enough space is not there in this frequency due to increasing devices, and the capacity provided is exhausted by the networks.

So, in future if we want high speed data we have to jump towards some other frequency, which we call millimetre wave, which is from 30 GHz to 300 GHz, and if we get that highway, the problem of traffic will be solved.

5G : Overcomings and Advantages

In 5G, the first point is millimetre wave technology that is used, which will give us high speed data connection with congestion free performance regardless of the number of devices used.

Second problem is that with increasing frequency of signal, it is unable to penetrate through some substance and also in bad weather the frequency will not be able to travel a long distance.

In 5G, the procedure which will be used to overcome it is small cell system, in which multiple low power cells will be used, which will carry the data to user's device at high speed, penetrating through any substance in its way.

Another thing is MIMO, in which the port size is increasing, today the standard size is 10-12 in a antenna, which in the case of 5G might be greater than 100, in which the user capacity of a tower will increase.
But in this beam forming will be required because in the system of multiple ports there will be a lot of interference causing bad user experience, so in 5G the tower will be able to locate you with the farthest distance and the signal will be output in such a way that it'll be targeted towards you and the interference will be decreased.

Now, the point comes of full duplex connection, in 5G if I talk about upstream or downstream, you can use it at a stable speed which will be utterly stable whether you are attending a call, uploading or downloading data or whatever.

Talking about use case scenarios, first 5G will come in broadband, maybe later in mobile phone as the implementation is a bit easy in it.
Whenever it comes, the speed at peak will be 10 GBps or at least it will be 1 GBps. This way the quality of service will be improved.

If I talk about IOT, multiple devices will be connected to the internet regardless of their size, capacity and features as in 5G  the antenna used will be small in size, so many kind of devices, smart sensors and products will be connected to the internet with the help of 5G.

If we talk about low latency, that if this time you do a speed test on your phone you might or might not get a high speed, as their is delay in the receiving of signal, but in 5G, the delay will be negligible which has many advantages in most of the sectors, and which couldn't be satisfied by 4G.

5G : Conclusion

So with 5G, we will take a step forward  towards next level data connection and we might be able to do the tasks which were earlier not possible with any connections. The connectivity in our spheres will be strong and these are some basic updates about 5G.
